The park

The park set out in the English style was created in the 19th c. where the famous rosery of Margaret of Flanders was originally situated.

The interiors

The finest artists of the Burgundian School (Claus Sluter for the sculpture and Jean de Beaumetz for the wall paintings) worked at Germolles and are still visible in the main building.

The main building

This element is the best preserved part of the current château of Germolles. It dates from the end of the 14th. c. Rare painted and sculptured décors, including the floor tiles, are still visible and demonstrate the quality of the château.

The chapels

The lower chapel dates from the time of the squires of Germolles. The ducal chapel (on top of the lower chapel) was built at the arrival of the duke and the duchess of Burgundy.

The guarding towers and the cellar

The guarding towers were rebuilt at the time of Philip the Bold. The cellar is much older and dates from the time of the squires of Germolles.

The hamlet

The hamlet of the château de Germolles is very well preserved. We can still see the house of Floridas de Mollencourt, intendant of Margaret of Flanders for her domain.
